I am a Facebook mom and a member of many, many mom pages. We share recipes, advice on raising teens, inspiration to get through a rough week, the best plumber in town- you name it we share it. Imagine our outrage when we moms found out that the skinny jeans and our hair parted on the side, things that have become us, are no longer “in.” Today’s Gen Z wants to wear high-waisted mom pants?! My hair style is all wrong? Another thing that is all the rage these days is the trend to be a stock trader. Okay, I am not hip or cool anymore and truth be told I never really was, but I know a thing or two about setting up a sound financial future.
Experience in life has taught me that time in the market is better than trying to time the market. Avoid the latest “hot” stock pick and diversify your portfolio. Pick a strategy and stay the course. Pay off your credit cards each month, focus on what you can control. Start saving in your retirement account or 401k early. A trusted financial advisor can help you line up your financial future for success. Maybe the Gen Z has some valuable advice about fashion, but I am going to leave my retirement plans in the hands of a trusted advisor. And do not even think about taking away my UGG boots!
